What do I get for my money?

I  price up all of my work individually as each person’s home is very different and I always want to ensure that the best price is given for each job; I don’t want to charge for a full re-thatch if I can repair your roof for another year.

However, I have detailed below a list of things that are included in an average thatching job. In quotations I always include what is listed below, so you have peace of mind that no added extras will be included at the end unless the job changes dramatically, which I will always discuss with you as the job progresses. I always give a free quotation and advice, so please do not hesitate to contact me.

Included in a repair

• Replacement of any damaged timbers
• Removal of rotten and damaged straw
• Replacement and fixing of material
• Extra netting in the event of damage
• Labour
• A thorough clean up during and on completion of all work.

Included in a full re-thatch

• Stripping back of one coat of water reed or wheat straw (unlike some thatchers who just place the new material on top of the old decaying material, which adds more stress to the timbers)
• Basic wood/timber work if required
• The required thatching material; water reed or wheat straw
• Netting
• Traditional Hazel spars (not cheap plastic)
• Labour
• A thorough clean up during and on completion of all work.
